Speaking spanish was useless to me.
I was american but raised in a spanish speaking country.
Went to private american schools, and was well educated.
When I graduated, I found that the spanish speaking jobs dealt with the worst of people. Either in the health department, or unemployment office. With very little pay.
I soon found out that all well educated spanish people know english already and speak it well. You will find yourself working with the very poor.

Spanish is one of the 6 official languages of the UN, along with English, French, Arabic, Chinese, and Russian. If you like languages you have to focus on this 6. Just ask yourself why the UN have this languages as official languages.
I think the top three are: English, Spanish and Mandarin
Don“t waste your time learning any dialects, or something like that.
