What kind of office jobs can I realistically land as a 16 year old?
Asked by Echo
I'm going into year 12 next year and I want a part time office job such as administration/office assistant but I don't know any people/employers nor the experience usually required. I've worked at McDonald's for roughly a year and I quit late last year. I want to work in a professional office mainly for the experience. Any suggestions?

Im 23, with a BA, still cant find an office job. Best of luck to you.
Just keep applying at places that dont require too much experience, and try to find things you did at McDonalds to show you are ready for an office job. When I worked at Subway when I was younger, I had to call a few times to place orders for soda, supplies, etc, so there are your phone skills! Think about what else you have done at McDs, like any organizing of inventory or important things you ever had to do (even once or twice!) and try to use that. Then list them on your resume. If you filled in for other employees when they called out, that shows you are dependable. If you handled money well, that shows your are responsible.
If they ask why you quit McDonalds, dont say because it sucks, say you are ready for more responsibility that an administrative position can offer you.
If you know anyone that can help you, like any adults who work in offices, they can maybe start you doing very basic work...then see how well you do and hopefully promote you.
Again, best of luck!
