What medical insurance position could this be?
Asked by ♥ SMILES ♥
I have an interview tomorrow and it's for a insurance position at a hospital. I was so excited to hear that they had a full-time position available I forgot to ask the job title. The lady described it to me as a position that requires a lot of data entry and the employee will be calling insurance companies making sure that they have paid. Do you know what exact position that is? Also can you give me a more in depth description of the job?
Thanks.

Sounds like a follow clerk, contacting insurance companies for claim status, etc. If it is simply obtaining status and then forwarding the information to a billing clerk to appeal the denial then that is easy. If you are also responsible for filing appeals for claim denials then that gets a lot more complicated. Would involve a lot of time on the phone unless you can connect to a web site for that information and that is faster.

It sounds like a billing clerk. This is where you would have to enter in all of the visits that have been done by that particular hospital or service, and enter it in correctly, but quickly. Also, as you mentioned, you are also responsible for checking with other agencies about the coverage as well.
