How does a new graduate LPN with no medical experience get a job?
Asked by Karin M
Currently no employers have been interested in hiring a new graduate in any area of healthcare in Tampa, FL. I have been told I am too qualified for PCT/CNA jobs but not qualified for LPN. How do I break into the field and get the experience needed?

You may want to look into temping for a while, to get your experience up.

Well, if you just graduated the LPN program, you technically do have medical experience from clinicals and nursing school, right?
I have 3 family members who were LPN's before they becamse RN's, they all found jobs within 2 months of graduating the LPN program and were making between $16-19/hour.
In my state, we have to take CNA classes in order to become an LPN, so I can't get how you would be "over-qualified". Maybe that means they know you aren't going to work for minimum wage, which is what I hear CNA's make??
Good luck!!!
