is it hard to find a nursing home administrator job when you have a masters in public administration?
Asked by biz owner
I have a masters in public administration and recently received my nursing home admin license. Just want to know what the job market is like for someone with my credentials who has managed a home health company but not a nursing home.

as the two are very different you probably would need to start in an assistant administrator position to learn some of the complexities. in a nursing home you will be dealing with everything from home health as well as housekeeping, maintenance, dietary, procurement/supply, restorative therapy, as well as medicare CNA training programs. staffing and retention are similar but most likely on a much larger scale. state auditor issues are different and include health department for the kitchen and fire marshalls for building. family issues are different from home health care. as well as physical, occupational and speech therapy issues tend to have a different focus. the demand over the next 20 years is expected to at least double according to the US Department of Labor.
