What do employers look for in a retail store manager position candidate?

I am an unemployed and have recently applied to several store manager positions.In my eyes I have plenty of experience but i was wondering what employers really look for in a manager candidate,little details,secrets,anything that might help me determine if i have a good shot or not.Thanks!

If you were the employer what would you be looking for... I think mostly experience in the field. Experience within the same company is very, very desirable. Managerial experience also... proven leadership and motivational skills, responsibility, etc. They usually want someone that can step into the position and function independently from the day one.
