Is manager-in-training worth it?
Asked by iHoney
I'm was currently looking for an entry-level position in the field I graduated in (way different from management). I have been sending out resumes to different companies for about two months, but nothing yet. In the meantime I got an interview at retail store for manager-in-training. I'm not sure if I should take this job because I would consider it a career change and I feel like giving up too soon on the entry-level job I really want. On the other hand this position will be a great resume builder and I could make money as I'm currently unemployed. If I get the job and either I end up not liking it, or want to keep looking for an entry-level position in my career field, how long should I wait before quitting? I don't want to act or seem unprofessional. Please help!

Since you don't have a job now, take it. There are millions of people who are in career fields different that the one they graduated for. Who knows, this may be a great opportunity. Go for it.

Many people enter career fields which are different than their degree. The most important thing you need to do is get a job. Training for management could lead to a good career for you. It is also much easier to find a job when you are employed. You may find that you enjoy retail.

i strongly suggest you GRAB IT! BEGGARS ARE NOT CHOOSERS........take advantage of every opportunity you've got and give your best.It doesn't matter if its way different from management, and don't only consider it as a great resume builder but take it it as a great step to success, professional growth and in time self fulfillment .You have to start from something not necessary what you want oftentimes but when you give your best to it then in time you'll decide your career path.
