How do kids right out of school with no marketing/advertising experience get decent jobs?
Asked by NozDontKnowMyNamz
I graduated recently with a degree in marketing and have many years of professional experience in another area but would like to do marketing/advertising. Now in my experience firms are looking for qualified marketers, etc. But if kids can get hired with no experience, then it seems as though I could too. But aren't their resumes blank?

The best way to network would have been through internships. Companies usually pay close attention to the interns, for employ ability.

Its possible that they are getting college paid for while they are working for a certain company, and basically just starting out as basically an office rat.

You need to be sure to dress business appropriate when you go on interviews. Always act enthusiastic in the interview and tell them that you are willing to learn. And since you don't have any experience, you have no bad habits in the business and will learn the job their way. If your resume is blank, jazz it up with high school and college activities that show you are a team player.

I started from the bottom, and that was way below were you are now. I never went to college until I was 27 because I was soo damn poor. You might just have to start in a job that only pays 20-25K a years. That is the way life is. Living poor will make you a better person later in life.

That depends, if the company is targeting a young market share it would make sense to hire some one with fresh marketing concepts and which thinks parallel to the market their seeking to attract, don't you think. Why not find products and services that are targeted to your age group, you may have a better opp. Just my opinion. Good Luck.
