How to list Human Resources as a job reference?
Asked by Krystal
I can't use my manager as a reference because she's immature and doesn't like me due to the fact she's jealous. And I haven't really worked with any of my other supervisors for them to give me a good reference. I was thinking of listing the human resources phone number as a reference so that at least my prospective employers can verify that I did in fact work there. Any ideas? And do I need to call Human Resources myself and tell them that I plan to list them as a reference, or is it understood that all previous employees can list that phone number for job verificatoin reasons.

Hi Usually HR would expect to provide a business reference, so it sounds perfectly fine for me for that to happen, but yes, let them know what your doing ( and maybe why!) Then you can provide a name and phone number in HR

Your old manager is not allowed to say anything bad about you, they are only allowed to verify employment. You can give the HR number, but most likely the new employer would know that their is a reason you are not giving your direct supervisors name.
