I've just started here in a new comp. as a training manager. I dont know what to do? any ideas?
Asked by Papabear
Im not a manager before so this job totally confuse me. I dont know what to do and to expect from others. By the way to add to the dilemma, this job that I got is a new job position in the company, also i am not from the same industry or line of wark as before. It would have been good if I have the option to ask a third party to get it taught for me... but not to my dismay... :(

What does a training manager do? You have a new job in a company in an industry with which you are familiar with. So you are not exactly lost in the woods, you start off by looking at reports which details mistakes in the manufacturing process, or if its not in a industry, lets say in Banking, there will be reports of erroneous accounting procedures, start from there and arrange for training to be done thru third party Consultants. Hope that helps.

What is your job description? What areas will you be training with? Ask your immediate manager for some direction while you are brand new. Sit down with other managers in your area to see what the training manager does for their department. that will give you the best idea Also sit down with your direct reports to see what their expectations etc are. Good luck
