What are the chances of an Australian getting an oil/sands job in Canada?

A Canadian guy I met while travelling told me that even though I have no experience in the industry I would definetly find employment in Calagary or Alberta working on oil rigs or other related jobs. Can anyone tell me if this true? And if so where is the best place to start ?

hello. moving major distances for a new position in a new field for you, I'd guess you would start on a 'related' job, so they know of you a bit better. good luck, oil industry always needs/wants new workers :}
