I'm trying to apply for a position for a insurance agent representative how much should i be asking for?
Asked by Padao H
I'm currently enrolling a class to take my pre license in property and casualty. I've been looking for job in that field. On the application, they ask me what is the salary I am looking for. One thing that concerns me is some agents pay only on commissiong, others only salary, and some pay on salary and commission. I didn't know how much I should ask for so i did some research on it and just put down the average making of a insurance agent representative. Was that the correct thing to do?? I wasn't sure how much i should of asked for. What is the asking salary is should have asked for?

Do an informational interview with someone who is already an licensed insurance agent and get these questions answered. http://www.bls.gov/opub/ooq/2002/summer/art03.pdf

doesn't matter, you'll get whatever starting salary/drawdown they give to new agents. As you already know, your $ will ultimatley be totally dependent on commission and your production levels anyway
