A cover letter is fairly simple to write: Have your name, address, telephone number(s) and email address at the top. Then enter a few times and type the company's address. Enter a couple more times and type your opening like "dear so and so" or "to whom it may concern" Try to use a name if you can. The body of the letter is broken up into 3 paragraphs. The first paragraph states the position you are applying for, and where you saw the position advertised (or how you heard of it) The second pararaph states who you are and why you are qualified. Don't just reiterate your resume, expand on it. Make sure that you reseach the company and write something that shows you did...like "As company XYZ is a new company, I feel this position would allow me to grow with it". Give an example or two of a time you led someone in a group (as you are applying for management). The third paragraph contains your closing. It will have your contact info, phone and email. Say that you will follow up within the next couple of days. Try to make your closing sound sincere, not just a canned message. Then you have a one word closing like sincerely, enter 4 times, then type your name. At the bottom, if your resume is attached, type enclosures. Try to make the letter take up one page. Don't go over one page, as it will be too wordy. You want to be consise and to the point. I'm sure sites like Monster.com and Careerbuilder.com have example cover letters that you can use to base your's off of.
